SKYLIGHTS

We serve Long Island by offering the best fiberglass repair in Suffolk County. From structural fiberglass repairs to minor cosmetic bumps and scrapes, our skilled team of professionals will give your property the attention it needs to have you back underway in its original state.

How will we repair your damaged fiberglass? It can be quickly healed with some glass fabric, a supply of resin, and our trusted skills and care. The process involves layering fiberglass and polyester or vinyl ester resin leaving a durable surface area similar to the rest of the existing surfice.

How is this new surface area formed?

The damaged area being repaired is cut out and removed from the rest of the surrounding area. The original fiberglass will have traces of mold on the outer surface and wax on the inner surface. If you remove the wax first, grinding will drag it into the bottom scratches and weaken the bond. During the process, each layer is carefully applied before the previous one fully cures, each application linking chemically with the previous one to form a solid structure.

We know that grinding is the key to a strong fiberglass repair in Suffolk County. Thus, the next step of the repair will grind the surface area a few inches beyond the bevel to accommodate a finishing layer of cloth, the sanded surface should have a dull look to it. Next, masking the area below the hole. A scrap of plastic laminate or thin clear acrylic is placed over the hole.

Materials Used for Fiberglass Repair in Suffolk County

On all repairs you have to use a fiberglass fabric which is cut to fit the size of the hole. The number of laminates applied is determined by the thickness. Any above the water repairs require either polyester or acrylic. This material requires being sealed from the air in order to harden.

A catalyst is added to harden the materials on the surface. You can adjust the cure time by adding more or less catalyst. The temperature, weather, and thickness of the laminate all effect curing times, but usually it will take around 2 hours.

Gelcoat, a pigmented polyester resin is applied by spraying or brushing to match the surface color. Additional gelcoat may be added to the area to fill any imperfections. The area is cleaned and sanded if necessary.

We provide the proper refinishing and maintenance, protecting your assets from water damage and degradation by waterproofing the surface beforehand, ensuring the longevity of the structure saving you time and money. Using a combination of our specialized knowledge and the latest technology, we will provide you with the most durable and effective commercial fiberglass repair in Suffolk County.
